The Local Intelligence Agency (LIA) provides area-based intelligence on the natural systems, industries and communities around the world.
Our mission
The Agency's mission is to strengthen the ability of public and private actors to pursue their interests with a full understanding of the local dynamics around them. The Agency does this by providing the highest-quality, most complete local intelligence in a simple and accessible form.
What we do
We build the complete picture of a region before anything is committed: the systems that shape it, the people and industries that depend on them, and the connections between them.
We screen actions against that picture. A project, a policy or a programme is tested for its risks, costs and opportunities from the point of view of whoever is asking.
We keep the picture current, so that decisions taken today can be checked against the place as it changes.
